About Allura

Allura Sex Therapy Centre, part of Allura Health Centre, is a specialized sex therapy group practice located in Downtown Vancouver and serving clients virtually across British Columbia. Our practice supports individuals and couples of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship structures in reconnecting with their sexuality and sexual relationships, helping them build healthier and more fulfilling connections with themselves and their partners.

Our clinicians work from trauma informed, somatic, emotion focused, and other bottom up therapeutic approaches. We apply an intersectional lens to our work as therapists specializing in couples counselling and sex therapy.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Counsellor to join our growing clinical community as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate is an experienced couples or relationship counsellor interested in expanding their work to include sexuality and sex therapy.

This opportunity is suitable for clinicians interested in building or expanding their practice within a collaborative group practice environment offering both in person and virtual services.

As independent contractors, clinicians set their own schedules and manage their availability within the needs of the clinic.

Applicants must be able to offer a minimum of 15 hours of clinical availability per week, including at least one evening or one virtual weekend period.

All clinicians are required to offer some in person availability, including at least one in office shift per week, based on office availability. Allura Centre does not offer fully virtual positions.

Qualifications

We are looking for a counsellor who:

  • Holds a Master’s degree in counselling, clinical psychology, or social work

  • Is registered with their respective association or college (RCC, CCC, RSW, RPsych)

  • Has at least 2 years of experience in the helping field

  • Has existing professional training in sex therapy, and would like to pursue advanced training in this area

  • Demonstrates strong ability and comfort working with couples, particularly LGBTQ+ and non monogamous couples, and holds training in at least one of the following approaches such as, EFT, Developmental Model, PACT, or Imago.

  • Is comfortable working with a broad range of sexual concerns that may present in couples or individuals, such as desire discrepancy, infidelity, relationship transitions, consensual non monogamy, and kink or BDSM dynamics

  • Is able to offer a minimum of 15 hours of clinical availability per week

    • Includes at least one evening or one virtual weekend period within their weekly availability

  • Is able to offer at least one in office shift per week, based on office availability

  • Works from bottom up approaches such as somatic therapies, IFS, emotion focused therapy, attachment based therapies, EMDR, or similar modalities

  • Has a strong understanding of trauma informed therapy practice

Apply for Our Counselling Practicum Program

We welcome practicum students who are eager to learn and excited to focus on sex therapy, ideally with a background in sexual health. This placement is best suited for mature, self-aware students who can work independently, value reflective practice, and bring diverse perspectives to our collaborative, trauma-informed team.

Applicants with with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences as a BIPOC, POC, or LGBTQIA2S+ person are strongly encouraged to apply

  • For the 2026-2027 year, we are accepting 1 masters-level counselling psychology student to complete an 8-month practicum. The placement will begin September 2027 and run until April 2027. The placement involves:

    • One-to-one and relational counselling — both virtual and in-person — at our Downtown Vancouver location.

    • Facilitation of groups and/or workshops

    • An expected time commitment of 2-3 days per week; In-person availability is required — we do not offer virtual-only placements.

    • An onboarding program focused on the practice of counselling and sex therapy

    • A 40-credit foundational sex therapy training

    • Weekly individual clinical supervision

    • Bi-weekly team case consultations with the Allura Team

    • Bi-weekly trainings on sex, sexuality and sex therapy
