Space for the things that matter

You can talk about sex here.

You might be navigating differences in desire, feeling disconnected from your partner, finding sex painful, or wondering how to feel more comfortable in your body. You do not need to know exactly what to say before reaching out.

Online sessions make it possible to explore these concerns without travelling to Calgary or another city. Whether you live in Edmonton, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie or a smaller Alberta community, you can look for a counsellor whose approach fits what you need.

We welcome people across gender identities, sexual orientations and relationship structures. Counsellors bring different experience with concerns such as kink, non monogamy, shame and intimacy after trauma. Check individual profiles for the support each person offers.

A little clarity before you begin

How online counselling works

Your first step is an inquiry. It gives you space to ask about fit, availability and the practical details before deciding whether to book.

  1. Find your fit

Explore counsellors who serve Alberta, or tell our intake team what support you are looking for.

  2. Talk about next steps

Ask your counsellor about their approach, fees, consultation options and current availability.

  3. Prepare your space

Your counsellor will share joining details and explain the video platform, privacy practices and consent process. Choose somewhere you can speak comfortably.

Insurance for Alberta clients

Extended health benefits depend on your plan and the counsellor’s professional designation. Alberta service eligibility and insurance reimbursement are separate questions.

Your plan may name specific credentials, such as Registered Clinical Counsellor, RCC, or Canadian Certified Counsellor, CCC. These are different designations. Check the actual credentials on your chosen counsellor’s profile. A Certified Sex Therapist qualification alone does not confirm insurance coverage.

  • Give your insurer the counsellor’s name and exact designation.
  • Ask whether online individual or relationship counselling is eligible.
  • Check claim limits, receipt requirements and any direct billing arrangements.

Fees & Accessible Cost options

Allura’s counsellors run independent practices and set their own fees. You are welcome to ask about pricing and any sliding scale arrangements before booking.

Supervised intern counselling may offer a reduced fee option through our Accessible Cost counselling program. Check the intern’s current services and availability.

Intern counselling is generally not eligible for extended health reimbursement. Confirm your benefits requirements before choosing this option.

Alberta counselling questions

Your questions, welcome.

Can I see a sex therapist online from Calgary or Edmonton?

Yes. Members of the Allura collective offer online sex therapy and relationship counselling to adults attending from Alberta, including Calgary, Edmonton and communities elsewhere in the province. Choose Alberta in our counsellor directory and contact someone whose approach fits your concerns. Your counsellor will confirm suitability and availability before booking.

Can I meet a counsellor in person in Calgary?

Check current Calgary options in the Alberta counsellor directory. Your chosen counsellor can confirm their location, approach and appointment availability before booking.

Will my Alberta Blue Cross plan cover online counselling?

Coverage depends on your specific plan and the counsellor’s professional designation. Ask Alberta Blue Cross, or your own benefits provider, whether your plan covers the particular counsellor, their designation and online sessions. An RCC and a CCC are different designations; coverage for one does not confirm coverage for the other. Do not assume coverage if your plan lists only psychologists or social workers. Confirm eligibility before booking.

How much does online sex therapy in Alberta cost?

Each independent counsellor sets their own fees. Prices depend on the counsellor, session length and service. Review individual profiles and our fees and policies page, then confirm the fee with your chosen counsellor. Some counsellors offer sliding scale options, and supervised intern counselling may provide an Accessible Cost option. Availability varies.

Can my partner and I attend relationship counselling online?

Some counsellors offer online couples and relationship sessions for clients in Alberta. Check the services listed on individual profiles or ask for help finding a match. Your counsellor will discuss the format, goals, privacy and practical arrangements before you begin.

What do I need for an online appointment in Alberta?

Choose a private space where you can speak comfortably, with a reliable internet connection and a suitable device. Your counsellor will explain the video platform and joining instructions. Confirm the appointment time in your local time zone and let your counsellor know where you will be attending, including if you travel or move to another province.
