A few things you might be wondering.
Can I access Allura’s online counselling anywhere in Canada?
Online options depend on where you will attend sessions and which counsellor you choose. Allura serves selected provinces and territories. Explore a regional guide or use “Where do you live?” in the counsellor directory to check your location and current options. Being based in one province does not by itself mean a counsellor serves every other region. Your counsellor will confirm individual arrangements before booking.
What is the difference between a counsellor’s base province and the regions they serve?
A base province or territory describes where the counsellor is based. The regions they serve describe where they offer counselling to clients attending online. These are separate details. Choose the place where you will be during sessions, rather than assuming you need someone based in that same place. Let your counsellor know if you plan to attend from somewhere different.
How do online sessions work?
Your counsellor will explain the session format, joining instructions, privacy and consent before you begin. Discuss a private setting, a suitable device and connection, and how you will reconnect if a session is interrupted. Agree the appointment’s date, local clock time and time zone, especially when you and your counsellor are based in different places.
Can couples or partners attend relationship counselling online?
Some counsellors offer online couples and relationship counselling. Check your region and the services on a counsellor’s profile, then discuss your goals, who will attend, privacy and the session format. Individual and relationship services vary by counsellor. Our intake team can help you explore a possible fit.
Will my insurance cover online sex therapy or relationship counselling?
Coverage depends on your own benefits plan, the counsellor’s exact professional designation and the service you choose. Give your insurer the counsellor’s full name and credentials, and ask about online sessions from your region, individual or relationship services, claim limits and receipt requirements. A directory listing does not confirm reimbursement. Confirm any referral, provider approval or direct billing requirements before booking.
What does counselling cost, and are Accessible Cost options available?
Each independent counsellor sets their own fees. Review the profile and our fees and policies page, then confirm the current price for your chosen service and session length. Ask about any sliding scale arrangements, or explore Accessible Cost counselling if supervised intern counselling may suit your needs. Services, regional eligibility and availability vary. Reimbursement for intern counselling should not be assumed.
