Training background
- A master’s degree and at least two years of clinical experience
- Extensive training in sex therapy and couples therapy
- A commitment to practising as a sex therapist
RCC, CCC, RSW, RPsych, RP or AASECT Certified

Tell us about yourself
Complete the application form and share a little about your clinical work. If it looks like a potential fit, we’ll arrange a short conversation.

We’ll provide a case conceptualization in advance so we can learn how you work and talk through your approach together.

We’ll speak with your references for a fuller picture of your experience, then discuss next steps if there is mutual interest.

Counselling practicum at Allura.
A place to deepen your practice in sex therapy, with supervision, training and room for reflective learning.
We welcome self aware master’s level counselling psychology students who can work independently, value collaboration, and bring diverse perspectives to trauma informed sex therapy. Applicants with BIPOC, POC and LGBTQIA2S+ lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
About the program
The September 2027 placement runs through April 2028. It includes individual and relational counselling, virtual and in person sessions from our Downtown Vancouver counselling rooms, and opportunities to facilitate groups or workshops. We cannot offer a virtual only placement.

How to apply
Applications for the September 2027 cohort open in December 2026. Please prepare your CV, an optional cover letter, and a five to ten minute video showing counselling micro skills. We also ask why you are interested in sex therapy, which topics interest you, and which areas of sex or sexuality you expect to find most challenging.
